Internships with a real deliverable and a named industry mentor

NEP 2020 made internships a curricular requirement, which created a large market for certificates issued against no actual work. An internship where nobody names a deliverable or a mentor is a certificate, not an internship.

In short

What is internships & live projects?

Internship and live-project support is the sourcing and administration of industry work placements for students, including credit-linked internships required under NEP 2020. BridgePoint sources host organisations, agrees the scope and deliverable in writing, sets stipend expectations, assigns an industry mentor alongside the faculty supervisor, and maintains the evaluation records the university needs. Sourcing for a cohort of 60–120 students typically takes 8–10 weeks before the internship window opens.

What's included

What you actually get

Every item below is part of the standard engagement, not an upsell.

01

Host organisation sourcing

Companies matched to programme and specialisation, with a defined project rather than an open-ended attachment. Sourcing for a cohort runs 8–10 weeks.
02

Written scope and deliverable

Every internship starts with a one-page scope: what the student will produce, in how many weeks, and who signs it off.
03

Live projects and capstone tie-ins

Industry problems routed into final-year capstone and project work, so academic effort and industry need point the same way.
04

Stipend and terms guidance

Realistic stipend bands by sector, city and duration, plus clarity on unpaid arrangements and when they are and are not acceptable.
05

Dual mentoring

An industry mentor and a faculty supervisor, with a fortnightly check-in cadence and a defined escalation route when a placement is not working.
06

Credit and compliance records

Attendance, logbooks, mid-term review, final report and evaluation rubric — the documentation trail a credit-linked internship needs under NEP 2020.

Scope

How engagements are shaped

4–8 weeks

Summer internship

The standard vacation internship, usually between the second and third year.

12–24 weeks

Semester internship

A full-semester placement, increasingly common in final-year engineering and management programmes.

6–12 weeks

Live project

A defined industry problem executed on campus under joint supervision, without the student relocating.

6–12 months

Apprenticeship-linked

Longer structured engagements, including NATS and NAPS routes where the employer and programme qualify.

Deliverables

  • Sourced internship offers matched to programme and specialisation
  • One-page written scope and deliverable per internship
  • Stipend benchmark by sector, city and duration
  • Industry mentor and faculty supervisor assigned in writing
  • Logbook, mid-term review and evaluation rubric templates
  • End-of-internship completion and credit documentation pack

Scope and deliverables are confirmed in writing before work begins. If something here does not apply to your situation, we take it out rather than bill for it.

Process

How the work runs

01

Understand

A working session on what you actually need — the role, the mandate or the outcome. We put the brief in writing and you sign it off before work starts.

02

Plan

A scoped plan with owners, timelines and the numbers we will report against. If the brief is unrealistic on budget, market or timeline, we say so here.

03

Execute

Delivery against the plan, with a weekly written update whether or not there is good news. Silence is not a status report.

04

Review

Results measured against what we agreed at the start, with an honest read on what worked, what did not, and what we would change next cycle.

FAQ

Internships & Live Projects — questions

How do credit-linked internships work under NEP 2020?

NEP 2020 and the associated UGC guidelines treat internships as curricular components carrying credits, which means they need learning outcomes, supervision, evaluation and records — not just a completion letter. In practice that requires a written scope, an attendance or logbook trail, a mid-term review and a final assessment against a rubric. We set up all four.

Are your internships paid?

Many are, and we publish realistic stipend bands by sector and city before sourcing starts so expectations are set. Some research and NGO placements are unpaid; we say so upfront rather than letting a student discover it in week one.

What if a student's internship is not going anywhere?

That is why there is a fortnightly check-in and a named escalation route. Most cases are a scope problem — the student was given no real work — and are fixed by renegotiating the deliverable with the industry mentor. Where it cannot be fixed, we move the student rather than let the semester run out.

Can you source internships for non-technical programmes?

Yes. Commerce, management, media, design, psychology, law and life-sciences programmes all place, though the host organisations are different and the sourcing cycle is often longer. What does not work is offering a generic student pool without specialisation detail.

How is a live project different from an internship?

The student stays on campus and works on a defined industry problem under joint supervision, usually over six to twelve weeks. It suits institutions where relocation is difficult for a large part of the cohort, and it tends to produce better documentation because the faculty supervisor is present throughout.
