Portfolio & Project Management
Somebody has to own the plan, the dates and the follow-up
Most stalled initiatives were not badly conceived. They had no single owner, no dated plan, and no one whose actual job was to chase the parts other people owed.
In short
What is project management?
Project management support means BridgePoint takes ownership of planning and driving a defined initiative to completion — scoping the work, agreeing milestones and owners, tracking progress weekly, and escalating slippage early. It suits organisations running a new launch, expansion, accreditation cycle or cross-functional programme without a dedicated programme manager. Engagements typically run eight to twenty-four weeks with a written weekly status report.
What's included
What you actually get
Every item below is part of the standard engagement, not an upsell.
Dated plan with owners
Weekly tracking
Dependency chasing
Risk and escalation
Closure and handover
Scope
How engagements are shaped
Single project
One defined initiative with a clear end state — a launch, a migration, an accreditation submission.
Multi-workstream
Several parallel tracks with shared dependencies and one consolidated plan.
Portfolio view
A monthly view across several initiatives, with prioritisation and resource-conflict calls.
Recovery
A project already behind: re-baseline, cut scope honestly, and get to a date that will actually hold.
Deliverables
- Written project charter with scope, owners and success criteria
- Dated plan with milestones, dependencies and named owners
- Weekly written status report against plan
- Risk and issue log with mitigation owners
- Decision log so agreed calls are not relitigated
- Closure report with outcomes, variances and handover notes
Scope and deliverables are confirmed in writing before work begins. If something here does not apply to your situation, we take it out rather than bill for it.
Process
How the work runs
Understand
A working session on what you actually need — the role, the mandate or the outcome. We put the brief in writing and you sign it off before work starts.
Plan
A scoped plan with owners, timelines and the numbers we will report against. If the brief is unrealistic on budget, market or timeline, we say so here.
Execute
Delivery against the plan, with a weekly written update whether or not there is good news. Silence is not a status report.
Review
Results measured against what we agreed at the start, with an honest read on what worked, what did not, and what we would change next cycle.
FAQ
Project Management — questions
Why hire this out instead of using our own manager?
Usually because the person who would do it already has a full-time job. Project management fails most often when it is somebody's fifth priority — the plan exists but nobody chases it. If you have a dedicated programme manager, you probably do not need us.
Do you have authority over our teams?
No, and we would not want it. We own the plan, the tracking and the escalation; decision rights stay with you. What we do insist on is a named owner per workstream and an agreed escalation path, in writing, before we start.
What if the project is already late?
Then the first job is an honest re-baseline: what is actually achievable, what scope has to be cut, and what date will hold. Recovery engagements run four to eight weeks and usually start by telling you something you did not want to hear.
How do you report progress?
A written weekly report: progress against plan, what slipped and why, risks, and the decisions we need from you. Plus a live plan you can open any time. No verbal-only status.
Can you manage projects involving external vendors?
Yes, and it is common — vendor dependencies are where dates usually slip. We track vendor deliverables on the same plan and chase them directly where you authorise us to.
